Possibilities

OK, So our union is definately out, we now have to start the search for a new location to hold the convention and we need to do it fast.

The nice people at Loughborough Fever have offered to ask their union if it would be possible to hold it their and the facilities seem fantastic but the problem is that we would be holding a Leicester convention and it wouldn't be in Leicester.

Other possibilites are local highs schools and sports centres although trying to find the right person to talk to about getting a school for a day in the middle of the summer holiday is somewhat awkward. Still got to keep trying.

Hope we get this to work and if we do I hope to see everyone reading this at the convention (Wherever it is).

No room at the inn (union).

OK, so we now have nowhere to hold the convention, the sutdents union took a week to make a decision and decided that we couldn't have the rooms. This leaves the question do we stop organising now or do we go out and search for a new venue for the convention.

I am all for finding a new location to hold the convention but time is really against us, we were hoping to start promoting the event in a weeks time and so not having a venue let alone being able to make fliers to hand out at Chocfest and Tribe of Fundango is a really big problem.

If we could get somewhere booked in time then it would be possible to announce it at either of these events or preferably both but I don't know if there is time between now and then to make all the nescesarry arrangements and using an unfamiliar space for a first convention is not an exciting prospect. All I can do is wait and see what the other people who have offered to help say and then work from there. If they are still keen on the idea of organising a convention then I would really like to do it and the time is right.

Lets see what the next week brings.

Dates and times.

So the first thing to do when organising a convention is to arrange the date, without this no one can do anything as they don't know when to do it.

So we picked a date when there was a short lull in the convention calender and said that is when we will have the first leicester juggling and unicycling convention. All well and good but then you go to the venue that you have arranged and they say they are free on that day but might not be able to let you do it because of thing happening the following few days. Do you keep working on the original date or do you rapidly change the date to fit in with the venue. At present they are considering the date so we have not rushed in to changing it but we do have an alternative date in mind just in case. it's hard to find venues that are big enough and our venue is great, just a pity that they have other things on in the days following our planned date. Still, keep working towards it and we will come up with something.
